There is nothing like facing the implication that I'm mentally ill (this time termed as "have deep-seated problems") for nothing more than disagreeing with somebody. Yes, I ship Maedhros/Fingon. Yes, I write stories with that pairing. But implying that I think shipping fiction is the greatest thing in the world and that I have deep seated problems because of it...

I really wonder sometimes what goes through people's heads when they appoint somebody like this to any sort of authority position. I've been in those sorts of positions, and utterly hated some of the stupidity that came across. But that's what lets me say that that kind of behavior is utterly uncalled for.

(Also, a look at my recent stories would show that most of them are as close to non-shipping as you can come. Unless I'm about to start shipping Maglor/Ladybug).

...I'm just so frustrated at the moment. I haven't even opened that site today.

Weird. Like 90 percent of the Sil fandom ships Maedhros/Fingon. I thought that wasn't the kind of thing people batted an eye at these days. I also thought people who disliked it were welcome to ignore it.

Hrm, person might care to reevaluate their own 'issues.' If they dislike it, they totally don't need to read it or rag on other people.
Where do you find these people? (rhetorical) I've generally found the fandom to be pretty non-spazzy, at least here on LJ and on SWG.

Insult the Silmarillion? Hmph! I've noticed people who do that tend to be those who found Tolkien through the LoTR films and still prefer the films to the books*, who expect non-stop action and don't understand that Tolkien is really about world-building and language.

*Not saying the films are bad, but they are very different to the books, and I only came to like the books much better than the films when I understood what the books were really about (a thing the films do not automatically prepare one for).

I've noticed that the higher-traffic a place is, like ff.net for example, the more drama ends up there...it's like one must choose between lots of feedback/drama or very little feedback/not drama.

Was that guy for real? I have to agree with whoever said he sounded like a whiny fanboy parody.

And your prostitute comment made sense in the context. Who compares the Silm to a bad ho? So not cool. =P
